1. How do you feel now that you are including new cities in your visit to South America?
The more the Merrier. I say bring it on.
2. How did this happen? Was it something like “it’s time to visit other countries” or was it something you have been waiting or planning long ago?
I’ve been trying to come down to s. America for a few years but it just didn’t work out till now. I’m really happy it’s finally happening though.
3. Having toured in South American countries before, what is the main difference you have found between our countries, USA, and Europe?
The main difference is the fans are very aggressive and love to party hard!!
4. Tell us about this moment in your musical career. Where did the idea of making an acoustic tour come from? We know that you will play MXPX songs as well as Tumbledown’s. Will we able to hear new songs from a future Mike Herrera solo artist?
I’ve been doing solo shows now and then for a few year but not a ton of touring. I’d like to do more solo tours for sure. I’ll be playing mostly songs that have been released from either MXPX or tumbledown but it’s all my songwriting. I was also thinking off playing a few cover songs as well.
5. On that note, what can we expect from MXPX in the near future? *FB*
MXPX is working on a documentary movie, a book and probably some new music very soon.
6. Mike, 18 years have passed since the beginning of this adventure, we have seen and heard much from MXPX and you have represented well what you do. How would you define the current Punk movement and the difference with the past? *DM*
Everything changes but we still play with heart, that hasn’t changed. I will put the same effort into my solo shows in s. America.
7. Do you think a musical era from the past could make a comeback, or will the music continue changing?
Music is always changing but also it comes back in waves and cycles. So yes.
8. Remembering that MXPX was created as a garage band in Bremerton, what could you say to Ecuador’s garage bands? *MV*
Play music that makes you feel alive. You’ll know when it’s right.
9. There are many bands that have named you as their influences. Which ones have filled you with pride or just surprised you? *LS*
They all surprise me!
10. You have shared stage with many bands or collaborated with, do you have any bands that you will really like to work with, but there hasn’t been the chance for? *GZ*
Black flag and the ramones would have been great. I’m a big fan of both.
11. From the Panic CD, MXPX has a more aggressive personality than in previous albums, what influenced this change?
The feel of that album was all based on current events and what our world was going through at the time.
12. It seems that every band has its time or album that has not given what was expected, has MXPX something like it in this 18 years?
Every album!
13. Tell us something about the acoustic show. Do you have something prepared already or are you waiting for suggestions?
I’m preparing songs. Not all punk songs will sound good solo and acoustic, so I have to do songs that I think work in the acoustic format.
14. About the select show in the afternoon, what motivated you to do it only in Ecuador?
I think the schedule just worked out that way. I didn’t really decide.
15. What can you tell us about that show?
I’ll be there playing live!
16. Awesome, Mike, we are thankful for your time given to us, we only have to wait to see each other on August 14. How does it feel to know you are about to fulfill the dream of many fans who have been waiting for you?
I can’t wait to see equador for the first time!
17. There is one more question. The last one, at what age did you get your first tattoo? Does it have a meaning?
I was 17. I was a young punker. It was all about rebellion.
